Randy the Cat returns today the world of the regularly updated. Why not have a look at his latest scenario and have a happy JFK Assasination/Dr. Who First Broadcast Day, however you choose to celebrate it! Na-No-Wri-No-Mo It is with regret that I say that my National Novel Writing Month project has been put on hold indefinately. I zipped through about 5,000 words but then realized that I had other responsibilities that would cause my life to fall apart if I ignored them. I don't regret starting my novel, though, because such oddball side projects are what give me my zest for life! Zest, I say! I threw together some excerpts from my attempted novel-in-progress to make this short story. Sol-whenthehellisitcomingtoIowa?-aris There's a new movie version of the Stanislav Lem novel Solaris coming out next Wednesday (November 27th). I looked at the web site and it seems that it might actually be good. I was originally turned on to the book by the Andrei Tarkovsky film version from 1972, which was beautifully shot and intriguing. You can feel the melancholy and regret washing over the characters in the form of the bright, orange sunlight which shines into the space station during Solaris' short daytime. Neither movie, I'm sure, can match the experience of actually reading the book, which will make you weep bitterly about the fragility of love and the limitations of man while your heart strains to contain the beauty of the universe. Would you ever consider dating a woman made of neutrinos? 18 November 2002 Just today on a photolog, I saw some disturbing images from Beijing. This person got some up close shots of what appears to be one of those unsettling rituals of the Chinese Communist party wherein "bad seeds" are pilloried in front of an angry mob. Randy the cat. This is a time when people all over the world take the time to sit down, collect their thoughts, and churn out bad, 50,000-word novels at breakneck, near-Stephen-King speed. View the progress of mine here. Will I finish in time? I highly doubt it. Whither Randy the Cat? Randy the Cat continues to be on haitus. Though I'm not posting new Randy the Cat comics, I am occasionally drawing them. Once I have a descent cache of Randy strips I'll probably begin updating his adventures weekly. This probably won't happen until December or later. I thought my fellow Spock fans out there might like to know that Leonard Nimoy does nude photography. |
